Higher Capacity Dry Ice Production Equipment

Triventek A/S has launched the increased capacity PE80 Pelletizer and RE80 Recovery Unit, going from 45kg to 80 kg dry ice production per hour. Customers using dry ice for temperature sensitive packing/shipping or for dry ice blast cleaning applications can now produce enough dry ice to feed the typical packing line, or the most demanding blast cleaner, in real time. The PE80 Pelletizer is capable of producing dry ice pellets from 1.7mm micro-pellets, through typical 3mm cleaning pellets to larger diameter cooling ‘nuggets’, simply by changing the extrusion plates. High quality, high-density ice is produced, which is essential for cleaning effectiveness and ideal for cooling longevity. Improvements over the tried and tested PE45 model include oil lubrication which replaces automatic greasing to improve maintenance and reliability; and the case is now available in black powder coat or polished stainless steel. A transport frame is provided which doubles up as a stand or the unit, with a footprint of only 600 x 1000 mm, can be fixed to a wall. The final major change is the introduction of a simplified menu-based control interface, so that even the most junior employee can safely produce dry ice. “We are proud that we were able to raise the equipment’s performance, as well as make other improvements, all within the same low sales price.”, said CEO Mr Ken Jensen. “The PE80 is designed to give the user dry ice ‘on tap’, thus eliminating the logistical problems of dry ice supply, and the associated RE80 Recovery Unit gives users ‘dry ice at half price’ through a patented breakthrough in ‘revert’, or waste, gas recycling.”, he continued. The RE80 has undergone more radical changes compared to its predecessor. Belt-driven compressors are employed and the refrigeration condensing unit is now outboard, much like an air conditioner’s condenser. This new arrangement gives higher performance, reliability and flexibility for different climactic conditions around the world. As previously, the Unit is a simple plug-in to the Pelletizer. The system still achieves the remarkable 1.12:1.00 liquid CO2 to dry ice conversion ratio, which is at the heart of its economic effectiveness. Spreadsheets detailing the economics of the system, taking account of local market conditions, are available via the website http://www.triventek.com Often payback periods of less than 12 months are achieved. Users requiring more than 80 kg/hour can simply increase the number of units employed since the economics of the system are such that the extra capital cost is soon recovered in revenue cost savings.
